| | Type of programme | postgraduate taught programme | | Type of diploma | Master of Science | | Start and finish date | 1 September through 31 August the following year | | Deadline for registration | See website | | Short description | The Master of Science (MSc) in Public Policy and Human Development emphasises the connection between public policy and decision-making processes, or more specifically, the effectiveness and efficiency of governance. Students are equipped with a variety of skills, tools and knowledge which enable them to work as policy designers and policy analysts. They are capable of working within public and private institutions at local, national and international levels.
The programme consists of two semesters, the first semester is common for all students and focusses on the theories and practice of governance and policy analysis. During the second semester, students choose between 6 specialisations. This is a one-year programme taught in English, from 1 September through 31 August. It is also possible to start in the spring semester with one of the specialisations (1 February through 31 January).
The starting point of the MPP programme is to stimulate students to gain an understanding of the basic idea of good governance. The emphasis of the programme lies with the question of how can public policy be dealt with in the most effective and efficient way.
To guarantee high quality in an international environment, we cooperate with the faculties of Maastricht University, partner universities and international organisations, like the International Labour Office (ILO). The MPP programme concentrates on public policy analysis and governance in general and include four areas of specialization:
- Social Policy Financing/Social Policy Design
(in cooperation with the ILO)
- Globalisation, Trade and Development
- Food, Health and Development (Under construction)
- Migration Studies
